VIDEO: Joe Maddon Commenting on Heartbreaking Walk-Off Loss to Pirates Will Make Cubs Fans Sad
By Thomas Carannante
The Chicago Cubs were just three outs away from snapping a three-game losing streak and getting even with the Pittsburgh Pirates. But this year just hasn't been kind to the Cubbies, has it? They blew it in the bottom of the ninth with new closer Craig Kimbrel on the mound and lost yet another series to a division rival. Manager Joe Maddon commenting on it before Thursday's game probably won't have fans feeling any better either.
He's not wrong. When you finally can get a lead with Yu Darvish on the mound and your bullpen sets up your closer perfectly, it's truly a tough pill to swallow especially when your team isn't playing well.
The Pirates gained three games on the Cubs with three straight wins and the NL Central is a complete mess. Joe's gotta get his boys back on track to avoid being in the thick of a multi-team playoff race down the stretch.
