VIDEO: Pete Alonso's Fake NSFW Reaction to Winning NL Rookie of the Year is Amazing
By Michael Luciano
The New York Mets picked up their sixth NL Rookie of the Year award when slugging first baseman Pete Alonso took home the hardware for the 2019 season. Alonso, who has been a pretty reliable source of quotes for the Mets this season, summed up the emotional whirlwind of the last few hours with a not quite NFSW response.
I'm pretty sure that's what the voters said when they saw Alonso's final statline.
Alonso broke Aaron Judge's rookie record for home runs when he slammed 53 long balls out of Citi Field. Throw in 120 RBIs and 85 extra-base hits, and it became clear, with all due respect to Mike Soroka and Fernando Tatis Jr., that there was only one player worthy of taking home the award this year.
The Mets have a lot of questions to answer about the direction of this franchise, but first base is not one of them. Alonso already has a ROY trophy, and the MVP should be next up on his list.
