10 Funniest Tweets About Browns' Heinous 4th-and-9 Draw Play Sunday Night
By Adam Weinrib
The Cleveland Browns showed all the offensive creativity of a fourth grader trying to pull together an SNL audition on Sunday night, leaving Baker Mayfield scrambling, failing to escape Aaron Donald's clutches, and repeatedly hitting his favorite target, the sidelines.
But the worst of the worst--oh, goodness, help us--came on a fourth down midway through the fourth quarter. Nowhere near the red zone, the whole world assumed Freddie Kitchens had lined up his men just to draw the Rams offside.
Nah. Instead, at the very last second, Mayfield handed the ball off to Nick Chubb, who got clobbered, and made us briefly turn the volume up in case Cris Collinsworth had any insight to share. He did not.
Even robots say no to that.
But what if you turned the difficulty down!
Ahh, unfortunately, more bad news there. I think I ran a fourth-and-nine draw in Madden once when I really wanted to go get tacos and my buddy wouldn't pause a 38-3 Seahawks-Jets battle. Not an NFL game, to be sure.
Surely, though, someone must've tried this before? Some data backs the play up...somewhere?
Well, now we've got one clip! Make sure to pass this one around.
Coach Kitchens, care to explain?
I tuned ya out. Sorry.
At the very least, we're sure Nick Chubb was receptive to the idea of having the ball in his hands for a pivotal moment!
Not quite.
That's a bold strategy, Kitchens.
It did not pay off for 'em.
Seriously, Freddie, would love to see you in the postgame.
But maybe that clip's good enough for me.
Are we sure no one's run a draw at this depth? I swear, I've seen this play before...
Ahh, right! An unblocked Griff Whalen being pummeled! How could I forget?
Oh well. Time to move onto Baltimore! Back to the playbooks, Mr. Kitchens!
Cleveland's so screwed.
Or, in other words...
What more is there to say, really? Sorry, Dawg Pound.
