15 Coolest Throwback NFL Jerseys
By Ian Anderson
The NFL today has some of the best uniforms in any sport, but no matter what innovations are made, we've also been blessed with a series of throwback uniforms that just cannot be beat. Here are 15 throwback uniforms that the NFL should bring back, or already have brought back, for their teams to wear, in an effort to tantalize you this holiday season. And yes, shoppers, they're available on Amazon!
15. 1978 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Home
This orange cream uniform was initially worn by the Tampa Buccaneers from 1978 to 1997. Currently Tampa Bay uses a similar color as a practice uniform, but an in-game return of these iconic jerseys would be something to see. You can even purchase a jersey similar to this, so why not use it on the field?

14. 1976 Seattle Seahawks - Home
Seahawks fans have been craving a throwback to the uniforms that the franchise rocked during their first 25 years in the NFL. Throwback jerseys already made by Nike exist and can be bought, so for the love of god, please let the Seahawks wear them on the turf!

13. 2006 San Diego Chargers - Home
These Chargers jerseys were iconic for so long until they were replaced in 2016 by their new color rush jerseys. Nothing screams San Diego Chargers more than having watched LaDainian Tomlinson streaking down the sideline wearing one of these all those years ago.

12. 1984 Houston Oilers - Home
It does not necessarily have to be the home uniform, but having the Tennessee Titans rock any throwback Oilers' uniform would be something cool to see. With the way Derrick Henry is running the ball currently, Titans fans could see the Earl Campbell parallel they've been dreaming of.

11. 1975 Los Angeles Rams - Home
The 1975 Los Angeles Rams' jerseys were a great combination of blue and gold, plus the gold horns on the dark blue helmets. Since the Rams' relocation in 2016 these uniforms have made a comeback, once again making the Rams the darlings of Los Angeles.

10. 1993 New England Patriots - Home
Back when Drew Bledsoe was taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the 1993 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots wore these uniforms. The royal blue combined with the large patriots on the sleeves are both super pretty, and I'm sure Patriots fans would not mind seeing Tom Brady wear something like this. Remember the red Pat Patriot AFL throwbacks from a few years back?! Those weren't bad either, but we want these.

9. 1989 Atlanta Falcons - Away
A return of these Falcons uniforms would be much appreciated -- there are plenty of options available, and the reds stand out. The white jersey, combined with the red helmets, big red numbers, and the stripes on the sleeves is absolutely stunning. A Matt Ryan bomb down the sideline to Julio Jones while sporting these would be something everyone could appreciate.

8. 2007 Dallas Cowboys - Alternate
Dallas needs to wear something other than their white uniforms, and bringing back this fit more often would be a great start. It was only in use for a few seasons, but watching Terrell Owens shred defenses in this beauty was something to witness. The white helmets combined with the blue jerseys, white sleeves and the blue star is magnificent.

7. 1968 Denver Broncos - Home
These jerseys were first used in 1968, but the Denver Broncos brought them back in 2018 as a part of the Color Rush promotion done by the NFL. The full orange is clean, but the best part about the entire getup is the dark blue helmets. The color, logo, and stripes all go so well together. Well done, Nike.

6. 1981 New York Giants - Away
Just like the Broncos' uniforms, Nike brought back these New York Giants classics as a part of the color rush campaign two seasons back, and these are eternally classy. The old styled helmet combined with the all white uniform with the blue numbers bordered with red. Fantastic.

5. 1990 Philadelphia Eagles - Home
These old Eagles jerseys were made iconic by the late Reggie White, and the NFL decided to bring them back for the Eagles to wear at the end of the previous decade, though they didn't look the same with Kevin Kolb. The lighter shade of green is something that no other team in the NFL has, and the Eagles pull it off well, when given the chance.

4. 2000 Baltimore Ravens - Home
These jerseys have been around since the organization began, and they are the perfect blend of pretty and classic. From Ray Lewis and Ed Reed to Lamar Jackson, watching these generational talents run around in the all purple jerseys with the white lettering is majestic to say the least. We'll call 'em throwbacks because they just look thicker back in the pre-Nike days. The Ray Lewis with the thick shoulders...gimme!

3. 1990 Buffalo Bills - Home
The Buffalo Bills have always had pretty uniforms, but have never gotten any credit for them because, well, they're in Buffalo. The red, white, and blue jersey combination with red helmets works very well for them. So why not pick up a nice throwback Andre Reed jersey to celebrate Buffalo's first 10-win season since 1999?

2. 1984 Miami Dolphins - Away
Considering how horrific the Dolphins are currently, it makes sense to grab a throwback jersey if you wish to show your support. The Dolphins' away jersey back in 1984 was a pretty creation, having a primary white color with orange and teal highlights. When you close your eyes, this is probably how you picture the Dolphins.

1. 1996 Detroit Lions - Away
These jerseys are too iconic and beautiful to not include. While the Lions do not make many changes to their ensemble, if any, they do have some pretty jerseys and iconic players to celebrate. From Barry Sanders to Calvin Johnson, these uniforms have history on their side.
