2 Hall of Famers Will Likely Boycott Derek Jeter's Induction Ceremony After He Fired Them
Derek Jeter will never have to pay for a beer or bodega sandwich in New York for as long as he lives. The man remains beloved in the Empire State, with Yankees fans adoring him on a daily basis.
However, it goes without saying that not everyone loves No. 2. Ever since he became co-owner and CEO of the Miami Marlins, it seems like a whole lot of critics have had it out for the guy. And when he gets his moment at the Baseball Hall of Fame next summer, a pair of members likely won't be in the house for Jeter's life-changing moment.
Tell us how you really feel, fellas! According to a recent report, both Andre Dawson and Tony Perez are expected to skip next summer's ceremony. Why? Because Jeter had the two fired from the Marlins organization after he ascended to his current role.
"I sincerely doubt [that I will attend] at this point," Dawson told Bleacher Report's Scott Miller. "All indications are likely not. ... I can't speak for Tony. But I don't have a sense or feeling like I want to sit on that stage to hear what [Jeter] has to say."
Jeter undoubtedly won't lose sleep over these two MLB greats missing out on his big moment. He'll go down as one of the greatest shortstops to ever play the game, there's no doubt about that.
Call it the cost of doing business.
