2019 MLB All-Star Ballot Officially Open as Voting Kicks Off Tuesday
By Joey Mauceri
Time to get voting, people!
The ballot for the 2019 MLB All-Star game is officially open! It's up to us fans to decide which of our favorite players will be partaking in the mid-summer classic at Progressive Field this year. And the formatting's changed just a little bit.
This year also marks the first time a new voting system is being utilized, which includes two stages of voting. The first of which is the "Primary," which begins Tuesday and ends June 21 at 4:00 pm EST. Fans can vote on any position player they want in each league. After the Primary determines the top three vote getters at each position, and the top nine in the outfield, those players advance to the "Starters" election.
This stage lasts only 28 hours, and the top vote getters from this group will be the starters for the All-Star squad.
Fans will also be able to vote in more ways than ever before, including a very nifty method proved by Google. Anyone can simply search a player on Google, and they will be taken to their place on the ballot.
The All-Star Game is a very special event in baseball, and the involvement of fans makes it a truly intimate experience.
It's time to get this season's top performers to the All-Star game. Yes, players like Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich may be obvious choices, but how about we show a little love for some others who are having underrated seasons? Luke Voit, Michael Brantley, Paul DeJong, the list goes on. It's time to fill out those ballots!
