2020 MLB Projections by PECOTA Just Dropped and They Predict Yankees and Dodgers Dominance
By Jackson Thompson

The aftermath of the Mookie Betts trade has been kind to two teams in particular. The Los Angeles Dodgers added a former MVP still in his prime to an already stacked lineup. Meanwhile, the New York Yankees now play in a Betts-less division, bidding farewell to a player that has punished them for years.
Well, that shakeup has been reflected in the 2020 Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA projections, which were released Tuesday morning. The Dodgers and Yankees are projected to be the top teams in baseball, expected to win 103 and 99 games respectively.
The 2019 MLB standings looked vastly different than the calculated 2020 results. Notable jumps are also anticipated to be made by the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds, who are both projected to win their divisions and record more than 85 wins.
According to Baseball Prospectus’ PECOTA projections, here’s how the 2020 playoff standings would shape up.

American League:
1. Yankees
2. Astros
3. Twins
WC1. Rays
WC2. Angels (Trout in the playoffs!!!)
National league:
1. Dodgers
2. Mets
3. Reds
WC1. Nationals
WC2. Cubs
Baseball Prospectus is also forecasting a postseason trip for Anthony Rendon, Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels, as well as a return to the playoffs for the Chicago Cubs.
Shockingly, the Atlanta Braves are projected as third-placed finishers in the NL East with an 83-79 record, in what should be a tightly-contested division.
The Red Sox are bizarrely expected to play 163 games in 2020 and are anticipated to fall short of the playoffs with a 85-78 record.
.@baseballpro's highly anticipated PECOTA projections are out. They have the Mets winning the NL East.

The Baltimore Orioles are projected to finish with the worst record in baseball once again, though the Mariners, Royals, Tigers and Giants don't seem likely to fare much better .
