2020 NFL Draft's First Round Was Terrible News for Texas Football
By Andrew Gullotta

After having a 10-win season in 2018, the Longhorns took a step back in 2019. Not only was this shown in their win total, but the lack of overall talent being selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Texas had ZERO prospects taken in Thursday's first round of the draft, which just conveys a summary of their troubles over the past few seasons. After a glimmer of hope in 2018, it seems like coach Tom Herman and Co. have regressed.

It wasn't like the entire Big 12 had trouble producing NFL talent either. Rivals Oklahoma and TCU produced multiple players who were chosen as first-round picks.
As high school recruits see fewer Longhorn players' names being called on draft night, they will be less inclined to commit to Herman's squad in the first place. This can heavily impact their recruiting classes for years to come if they don't rebound quickly.

Hopefully for Herman, the win in the Alamo Bowl over No. 11 Utah will spring board them back into college football relevancy.
