3 Accomplished Managers Who Can Save the Mets
By Sean Facey
The New York Mets are in dire straits. They're 20-25, on a five-game losing streak and are 6.5 games out of first place in the NL East. With the team already reportedly searching for manager Mickey Callaway's replacement, let's take a look at three established managers who could help save the Mets' season.
3. Robin Ventura
Though he doesn't have the resume of other candidates, Robin Ventura knows a thing or two about squeezing the best out of a team. He finished third in Manager of the Year voting back in 2012, and he has five seasons of experience under his belt as the leader of a rebuilding White Sox squad.
2. John Farrell
Discipline is something the Mets are sorely lacking, and John Farrell could be just the solution. The former manager of the Boston Red Sox knows a thing or two about getting a team in line. With three postseason appearances, a World Series title and a career .517 winning percentage under his belt, Farrell checks all the boxes for a quality replacement.
1. Joe Girardi
If there's one guy who could handle the pressure of dealing with the New York media, especially on a sinking ship like the Mets, it's Joe Girardi. He was the skipper of the Yankees for 10 years, guiding them to the postseason six times, including a World Series win in 2009. He's got the chops to turn the Mets around-- the only question is whether or not he'd be willing to come out of retirement to do it.
