3 Questionable Calls That've Already Cost Clemson Against LSU

Trevor Lawrence and Clemson found themselves leading 17-7 against LSU, but they still went into halftime of the National Championship against Joe Burrow and the Tigers down 11 and facing a 28-17 scoreline. The officiating certainly hasn't gone Clemson's way, as there are at least three instances of the referees going in favor of LSU on some questionable calls.

3. Blindside Block on Tee Higgins

While this isn't too bad of a call given the fact that Clemson scored on this drive, it's still questionable to say the least. Clemson WR Tee Higgins hit LSU LB Patrick Queen in the side, and he didn't either use his helmet or target Queen's helmet. This is a clean football play, and the refs screwed Clemson once again.

2. Missed Unnecessary Roughness On Jacoby Stevens

Stevens popped Amari Rodgers as he was going over the middle on a Trevor Lawrence incompletion. Rodgers was clearly defenseless given ow he was airborne and the ball was uncatchable, but the refs decided that nearly giving Rodgers a concussion was a legal play.

1. Clyde Edwards-Helaire Stepping Out Of Bounds

This one is as clear as it gets. Edwards-Helaire's game-changing run in the second quarter shouldn't have been as big as it was, as the LSU RB clearly stepped out when he put his hand to the turf while shaking Tanner Muse's tackle. This just goes to show the Pac-12 crew's night isn't exactly one to write home about.
