3 Best Ohio State Buckeyes to Ever Play for the Browns
By James.r
After a fantastic rookie season, Denzel Ward looks like he's going to be a lockdown corner in Cleveland for a long time. If he reaches his potential, he would go down as one of the greatest Ohio State Buckeyes to stay in-state and play for the Browns. So, let's check out the three greatest players to ever play for the Buckeyes and Browns; the list is impressive.
3. Dick Schafrath, OT
Schafrath was one of the best linemen in the NFL during his time with the Browns, and he's one of the blockers who helped Jim Brown become one of the greatest players in NFL history. Schafrath made the Pro Bowl 6 consecutive times between 1963 and 1968, and he helped the Browns secure an NFL Championship in 1964.
2. Paul Warfield, WR
It's hard not to put Warfield in the top spot on this list, but the player ahead of him is just too good. Warfield is arguably the greatest wide receiver in franchise history and is undoubtedly a top-10 player to ever suit up for the Browns. He averaged 20.1 yards per catch, the highest of all-time for a player with a minimum of 300 receptions. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1983.
1. Lou Groza, K/OT
Groza's list of accomplishments is about a mile-and-a-half long. He was an All-Pro six times, and he won the MVP award in 1954 mostly for his accomplishments as a kicker. He retired in 1967 as the NFL's all-time leading scorer, and his number 76 was retired by the Browns organization. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1973.
