Mickey Callaway and the New York Mets have been in a tailspin of late. After a promising offseason that saw the team bring in Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz, the Mets' rotation has struggled to get started, and their veteran hitters have not performed up to their talent level. This has left a great deal of uncertainty surrounding their plan for the immediate future as the trade deadline inches closer.

3. What Do You Do With Dominic Smith?

A former top prospect, Smith was objectively terrible during his first two seasons, struggling to make consistent contact and playing horrible defense. While a .300 average means a breakout is near, playing time could be hard to come by with the emergency of Pete Alonso. Do they keep trying to fit a square peg into a round hole in left? Or cut bait and ship him out of town?

2. Which Members of the Bullpen Get Traded?

Diaz is staying, that much is certain. Everyone else is a wild card. The emergence of Seth Lugo and Robert Gsellman has made them somewhat desirable trade chips. While they could easily help a contender, the Mets could also once again choose to hold on to them and try to establish a terrific young bullpen for the future.

1. Do You Entertain a Michael Conforto Trade?

If the Mets wanted to hit the reset button and totally reboot this thing, they will have to at least look at the possibility of trading Conforto. The Mets appear to have two long term studs in Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso, and those two should be the young core they build around. Conforto, hitting .271 with nine home runs at age 26, would fetch a pretty nice haul if they decide to move him.
