While the St. Louis Cardinals come into the NLDS playing some great baseball, the Atlanta Braves appeared to take the gas off the pedal once they clinched the division a couple weeks ago. On paper, these two teams present an interesting matchup that could showcase some fireworks until the bitter end. But as we all know, October baseball is unpredictable. So, here are three bold predictions for the Braves-Cardinals NLDS.

3. Mike Foltynewicz Outduels Jack Flaherty

There's no question that Jack Flaherty has been historic in the second half of the season for St. Louis. But just like what happened to Jake Arrieta in 2015 after his Cy Young campaign, Flaherty won't be as dominant in October and a different right-hander will shine. Mike Foltynewicz has been sensational since coming back from Triple-A, posting a 1.73 ERA over his last seven starts. He'll be the one making headlines, as the two will likely lock horns in Game 2 at SunTrust Park.

2. Tommy Edman Proves He's a Future Star

Where would the Cardinals be without Tommy Edman? If they didn't call this kid up in June, St. Louis might not be in this situation. All he's done is hit since reaching the big leagues, slashing .304/.350/.500 with 11 home runs, and he'll continue to show that off under the bright lights in the NLDS. Expect big things from the 24-year-old in this series.

1. Braves Sweep the Cardinals

The one division series most of the pundits believe will go the distance is between the Braves and Cardinals. Why? Because Jack Flaherty has had a historic second half and the likes of Ronald Acuña Jr. and Freddie Freeman are banged up. Even with those two stars not at full health, let's not discard this Braves offense, which is legit no matter who's facing them on the mound. The mainstream media will be disappointed because instead of getting a riveting series, the Braves are going to make quick work of the Redbirds and walk away with a sweep.
