3 Bold Predictions for Oklahoma in Matchup Against TCU
By Andy Loughmiller
Oklahoma is set to take on TCU in Week 13 of the college football season. The 9-1 Sooners have finished in the top four and made the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, but they are on the outside looking in this year.
If OU wants to keep their playoff hopes alive, they will need to win big against the Horned Frogs on Saturday. Here are three bold predictions for this matchup.
3. Oklahoma Scores 50+ Points
The Sooners could be without their star receiver CeeDee Lamb for a second straight game, but they have plenty of 5-star talent in their receiving corps. The group of young pass catchers looked great in the second half of their come-from-behind win over Baylor a week ago. Couple that with the big play ability of quarterback Jalen Hurts (as well as the fact that this is the Big 12 we are talking about), and this has the potential to be a big day for the Oklahoma's high-powered offense.
2. Defense Forces Two Turnovers
OU's Achilles heel in the past few seasons has been their defense. They were supposed to be much-improved on that side of the ball this year, but that has not been the case. Oklahoma shut out Baylor in the second half of last week's contest, which shows that they are capable of getting stops. In addition to countless holds, they also came away with two turnovers, and we believe they have a chance to replicate that against TCU.
1. Jalen Hurts Throws for Over 400 Yards
The duel-threat quarterback has posted the best passing numbers of his college career in his first season as Oklahoma's signal caller. TCU has allowed the fewest rushing yards in the Big 12 in 2019, so the traditionally balanced OU offense could be forced to become one dimensional in this game. That means Hurts could be poised for a big day through the air.
