3 Bold Predictions for Seahawks-Eagles Wild Card Matchup

The Philadelphia Eagles managed to hit their stride at the right time, and they stole the NFC East away from the Dallas Cowboys by posting a 9-7 record. Their reward for taking home the division crown is a matchup against Russell Wilson and a Seattle Seahawks team that was literally inches away from an NFC West title and home-field advantage. Seattle prevailed when the two teams met in the regular season, but will the playoffs be a different story?

3. Neither Quarterback Throws For 200 Yards

It's January in Philadelphia, and you know what that means: it'll be cold, windy, and potentially rainy. That isn't the best environment for a team like the Eagles that thrive on a quick passing game. With Carson Wentz down his top three, and potentially four, targets in the passing game and Wilson facing a defense that gave him fits in the regular season, don't expect a bunch of big numbers in the box score during what should be a rough environment for a quarterback.

2. DK Metcalf Ends Up With 100 Yards and A TD

With Marshawn Lynch coaxed out of retirement and splitting carries with rookie Travis Homer, Seattle doesn't have the horses to run the ball 40 times against a tough Eagles defensive line. Although Wilson should be in for a tough day in the air, he could find some success throwing to star rookie DK Metcalf. With 900 yards receiving as a rookie opposite Tyler Lockett, Metcalf is a complete matchup nightmare against a smaller group of corners that have played very poorly over the last few weeks. If Wilson is to throw, he better look No. 14's way down the field.

1. Seattle Cruises to Victory

Don't let the No. 5 seed fool you, Seattle is one of the best teams in the league. With a defense that has finally started to look somewhat respectable and a Hall of Famer in Wilson at quarterback, you can never truly count them out until there are zeros on the clock. This Seahawks team should be able to handle the Eagles, even on the road. Despite the recent losses sustained on offense, Pete Carroll's side has the talent to control this game and earn a victory. Having the best player on the field will certainly help.
