It goes without saying that Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs will be motivated to avenge their gut-wrenching loss to the New England Patriots in last season's AFC Championship Game, a contest that they truly gifted to Bill Belichick and Co. when you go back and look at the highlights.

With an overhauled defense and Patrick Mahomes back under center, KC has a genuine chance to do just that. But who will step up for the star-studded squad? Here are three bold predictions for the Chiefs in 2019 with their regular season kicking off this weekend.

3. Patrick Mahomes Will Keep up the Historic Standard He Set in 2018

Are we saying that Patty Mahomes is going to throw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns again? Maybe not right on the nose, but what reason is there to believe that he'll slow down? There isn't any. The reigning MVP will be a part of the same offensive scheme that only added talent in the offseason in wideout Mecole Hardman and tailback LeSean McCoy.

2. Sammy Watkins Will Stay Healthy and Be a Stud

Sammy Watkins' best year as a pro came in 2015, his second year with Buffalo, when he surpassed the 1,000-yard threshold to go with nine touchdowns in just 13 cameos. Of a possible 48 games since then, the former Clemson star has appeared in just 31. At 26 years old, the talent is still budding, waiting to be unleashed, and 2019 will be that year.

1. Chris Jones Leads the NFL in Sacks

Is it fair to call Chris Jones the most underrated pass rusher in the league? Absolutely. In 2018, the Mississippi State product compiled 15.5 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, 29 quarterback hits, and 2 forced fumbles. He technically took the world by storm last year, but opposing offenses will be in for even more of a rude awakening in 2019. You heard it here first.
