Football season is back and the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to build off a relatively successful season last year. The Birds snuck into the playoffs as the final wild card team at 9-7, and made some noise in the first two rounds before being knocked out by the New Orleans Saints.

This year, the team has its sights set on a return to the Super Bowl with one of the deepest rosters in recent memory. Here are three bold predictions for the 2019 Philadelphia Eagles.

3. Derek Barnett Gets Double Digit Sacks

The Eagles' former first-round pick was sidelined for a majority of last season with a shoulder injury, shortening his campaign to a mere six games, but he'll be relied upon even more in 2019 especially after Michael Bennett was dealt to the Patriots. If Barnett can stay healthy, expect him to rise to the occasion and get to the quarterback even more considering he'll see an increase in reps. If he can get a full season under his belt, the breakout is on the way for Barnett.

2. The NFC Goes Through Philly

The Eagles head into the 2019 season with the third-easiest schedule, and that plays a large part in them earning the top seed in the NFC. Philly is 18-6 at home over the last three seasons, which is all you need to know. Couple that with away games at Washington, Miami, Buffalo and New York, and the Eagles already have an easy path to 10 or 11 wins on paper. They'll also get a crack at the Falcons, Packers, Bears and Vikings, which could help them get crucial head-to-head victories.

1. Carson Wentz Wins MVP

The Eagles' franchise quarterback is two years removed from tearing his ACL and is in the best shape of his life (presumably) after revamping his diet this offseason. General manager Howie Roseman spent the offseason assembling the most talented group of weapons the third-year quarterback has ever had. WR Alshon Jeffrey, TE Zach Ertz and WR Nelson Agholor are joined by WR DeSean Jackson, RB Jordan Howard and RB Miles Sanders to form a dynamic set of offensive talent this year. If he's good to go for all 16 games, expect Wentz to post over 4,000 yards, 35 touchdowns and one MVP trophy.
