The Dallas Cowboys continue to show they have every desire to compete for a Super Bowl, which has been an annual tradition since 1996. This year, amid the ongoing Dak Prescott drama, the Cowboys managed to lock in star wideout Amari Cooper to a five-year, $100 million deal, while also shocking the world by signing former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy to a three-year contract.

While those moves make Dallas better on paper, they still have a plethora of needs at other positions. Here are the three that owner Jerry Jones needs to address during this new league year.

3. Safety

When you think of the Cowboys' weakest point last season, you immediately point to the secondary, particularly at the safety position. While Xavier Woods has proven to be a quality starter, the same can't be said for the remainder of the depth chart. Instead of trying to improve at the position, they opted to re-sign Darian Thompson, who wasn't a huge difference-maker on the field. The Cowboys will regret not improving at the position.

2. Defensive End

DeMarcus Lawrence was signed to a massive $105 million contract last offseason, and he didn't live up to it, mostly due to being double teamed by the opposition. Yet they found a true difference maker in Robert Quinn, whom they acquired from the Miami Dolphins in a trade last offseason. After signing Cooper to his aforementioned deal, they effectively lost out on Quinn, who signed a massive five-year, $70 million contract with the Chicago Bears. if the Cowboys don't sign a defensive end to complement Lawrence, then their pass rush is going to suffer.

1. Wide Receiver

Yes, it was mission accomplished for Dallas, as they secured the services of Cooper for the foreseeable future. While that's all well and good, their depth chart at the receiver position took a hit. Michael Gallup is still there, but No. 3 target Randall Cobb jumped across the state to join the Houston Texans. Dallas has reported interest in ex-San Francisco 49ers Emmanuel Sanders, but it's unknown if they'll be successful in their pursuit. They have to find a quality third receiver in order to replicate their offensive success last season. Sanders would be an amazing fit, but the spot is still empty, as of now.
