3 Free Agents the Patriots Should Still Pursue
By Scott Rogust
After winning Super Bowl LIII, the New England Patriots saw key pieces leave via free agency. Yet, to the dismay of the 31 other teams in the NFL, they got even stronger in the NFL Draft.
Despite spring workouts kicking off around the league, there are plenty of free agents remaining on the market that the Patriots would no doubt benefit from adding. Here are three players they could still pursue this offseason.
1. DT Ndamukong Suh
Bill Belichick's bread and butter in terms of coaching style is to load up on his defensive front seven. Defensive tackle is not his greatest unit in terms of depth, so what better way to fix that than to add Ndamukong Suh? The Patriots can take advantage of his small market and sign him to an attractive one-year deal with the promise of Super Bowl contention.
2. OLB Derrick Morgan
Yes, the Patriots have already added Jamie Collins to their linebacker corps, but that shouldn't prevent them from adding more pieces. Prior to last season, Derrick Morgan was good for over 5 sacks per season; you'd best believe that the defensive-minded Belichick would utilize Morgan effectively in order to bring him back to his old ways.
3. S Johnathan Cyprien
When thinking about this past Super Bowl, you remember that starting strong safety Patrick Chung broke his arm. While he is expected to be a full go by training camp, the Patriots should have a fallback option just in case. Johnathan Cyprien provides the right experience to help out at strong safety and should be entering the top of his prime.
