3 Most Underrated Moves of Bears Offseason
By Jack Murphy
The Chicago Bears have been incredibly busy this offseason, making big decisions to improve the team on both sides of the ball. GM Ryan Pace is done playing second fiddle in the uber competitive NFC North, which is why he's gone out and landed playmakers to improve this team. Which moves should have Bears fans the most excited? While acquiring Nick Foles headlines things, we're focusing on three other decisions Pace made that should have everyone in Chicago fired up for the new campaign.
3. Releasing Leonard Floyd
It's never easy admitting defeat, but that's exactly what the Bears did this offseason when they released former first-round pick Leonard Floyd. After a brilliant rookie season (seven sacks), Floyd just hasn't lived up to the hype. While letting him go was tough, Pace went out and brought in stud pass-rusher Robert Quinn. Him and Khalil Mack going after quarterbacks will be fun to watch.
2. Signing Jimmy Graham
The Bears are trying to make the Green Bay Packers regret their decision of releasing Jimmy Graham. While Graham is not the player he was during his tenure with the New Orleans Saints, he's still a great red-zone threat. The Bears only ran for eight touchdowns last season, showing that they go to the pass when they are about to score. Graham's 6- 7, 270-pound frame will be a welcome addition for new starting signal caller Nick Foles.
1. Re-Signing Eddie Jackson
The Bears have one of the better defenses in the league, led by superstar pass-rusher Khalil Mack. While Mack in undeniably the best player on the Bears defense, that does not mean he's alone. Eddie Jackson is coming off a superb year, and Chicago wasted little time in agreeing to a new four-year contract with him in early January. Jackson is coming off a year where he earned a Pro Bowl selection by recording 60 tackles, five pass deflections and two interceptions.
