3 Players Texans Won't Be Able to Sign After Future Deshaun Watson Extension
By Michael Luciano
Despite a horrific offensive line to go along with some questionable scheme and coaching on the sidelines, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has molded himself into one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the NFL. Even with a couple serious leg injuries, Watson will be in line for a serious payday soon. The flip side of that, however, is that the Texans will have to gut a talented roster to keep him, meaning these three players could be on their way out in Houston.
3. WR Will Fuller
A No. 2 to DeAndre Hopkins for his entire career, Fuller is likely to demand WR1 money in free agency. However, given his injury history, letting Fuller go isn't exactly going to make Houston cringe. His speed could be a terrific weapon for a Houston offense that likes to throw downfield, but he isn't going to stop Houston from signing Watson.
2. DB Bradley Roby
Roby signed a one-year, $10 million contract with Houston on a "prove it" deal after an up and down season in Denver. He's a borderline Pro Bowl talent that could be a deadly slot corner, but was the epitome of burnt toast last season. If he's able to restart his career in Houston, keeping him could be difficult with a Watson deal.
1. EDGE Jadeveon Clowney
An All-Pro pass rusher with all-time great athletic ability, Clowney is set to play the upcoming season on the franchise tag. Keeping him gets harder by the day as Watson's price increases with every touchdown. Clowney is getting more peeved without a long-term deal.
