3 Players That Definitely Won't Be on the Giants Roster Next Season
By Parker White
Over the last decade, the San Francisco Giants are used to winning and competing for World Series titles. However, the good 'ol days appear to be over, and with a new front office in place and manager Bruce Bochy calling it a career, a lot of change will be happening in The Bay. With that in mind, here are three players that definitely won't be on the Giants roster next season.
3. LHP Will Smith
Will Smith will be one of the more sought after relievers in free agency, and because the Giants appear to be going into a rebuild, it doesn't make any sense to pay good money for a relief pitcher. He was a candidate to be dealt at the trade deadline, but ended up staying amid the Giants' midseason win streak.
2. 3B Evan Longoria
Fellow position players Brandon Crawford and Brandon Belt will likely be on the trade block, as well, but Evan Longoria is still a productive player despite not being able to hit at home. Longoria is slugging over .500 with an .870 OPS away from Oracle Park, as opposed to a .648 OPS at home. They need to get him out of town and get whatever they can in return.
1. LHP Madison Bumgarner
It'll be the end of an era, but unless GM Farhan Zaidi wants to give Madison Bumgarner a sweet long-term deal, the postseason legend is gone. Bumgarner proved he's healthy and can still get the job done, and contenders will take a chance on him just so they can get the guy who was dominant in October.
