3 Players the Eagles Should Cut After Preseason Week 1

The NFL regular season is fast approaching, and it's time for teams to start considering who they want to have on their 53-man rosters to start the year. With that comes the need to cut some players, of course, and the Eagles in particular need to show the door to these three guys following the first week of preseason football.

1. Clayton Thorson

Clayton Thorson did himself no favors in preseason Week 1 against the Titans. The fifth-round draft pick has done nothing to impress coaches, and considering the Eagles have Cody Kessler and the currently injured Nate Sudfeld behind franchise star Carson Wentz, there's just no real space for Thorson on this squad.

2. Nathan Gerry

Nathan Gerry has looked progressively worse as the regular season slowly fades into view. He was a virtual non-factor in Philly's loss in their preseason opener to Tennessee, logging 1 tackle and 1 pass breakup and struggling noticeably pass coverage. It might be time for the Eagles to part ways with him.

3. Tre Sullivan

The Eagles are incredibly deep at the safety position this year, and with that in mind, Tre Sullivan just doesn't fit into the picture for them. He looked totally out of place against the Titans, missing tackles and blowing coverages far too often. The emergence of Blake Countess makes this decision all the easier for the Eagles.
