3 Players the Patriots Will Cut This Preseason Due to Surplus of Depth
By Sean Facey
The Patriots have had strong performances from a number of players here in the preseason, but they've also had their fair share of disappointments. And with depth becoming a major factor in their decision-making process, it seems more than likely that they'll end up cutting these three players by the end of the preseason.
3. Ken Webster, DB
The rest of the Patriots' secondary is looking as sharp as ever, and that spells bad news for Ken Webster. The 2019 seventh-round pick hasn't been all that impressive in the preseason, and with guys like Jason McCourty, Keion Crossen and JC Jackson ahead of him on the depth chart, it seems like Williams is destined to get cut. He'll have to fight and prove his value in the final two preseason games.
2. David Parry, DL
Parry was one of the more minor additions the Patriots made to shore up their defensive line this offseason, and in all likelihood, he's not going to be around for the regular season. New England has a strong mix of youth, experience and talent in the trenches heading into the 2019 season, and that leaves Parry, who has started just four games in the NFL over the last two years, as a candidate to get cut.
1. Damoun Patterson, WR
The addition of Josh Gordon and Cameron Meredith transformed New England's receiving core from a position of weakness to an area of strength practically overnight. Unfortunately for Patterson, that'll likely leave him out of a job. Even after Dontrelle Inman left town, the Patriots have nine different receivers who have a case for being on the 53-man roster, but as of now, Patterson seems to be on the outside looking in.
