3 Players the Twins Should Target in Trades This Offseason
By Parker White
The Minnesota Twins are coming off a 101-win season and it was their power-laden lineup that carried the day. Moving into the 2020 season, they need to augment their pitching, specifically their starting rotation because of their countless free agents.
So, here are three players the Twins should target via the trade market this offseason.
3. RHP Ken Giles
The Twins might be comfortable with Taylor Rogers closing games, but that doesn't mean they don't need to fortify the back end even further. Ken Giles was on the market at the trade deadline, so you have to think the Blue Jays will dangle him out there this winter. Minnesota should pounce on the opportunity to bring in Giles, who ended the year with a 1.87 ERA over 53 appearances.
2. RHP German Marquez
German Marquez was a beast in 2018, striking out 230 batters over 196 innings, but it was a struggle for him this year and his value took a dip. It might take a solid package to get him away from Colorado, especially since he has several years of team control remaining, but the Twins have the tools to make it happen and they certainly have a need in the rotation.
1. LHP Robbie Ray
The Twins were interested in Robbie Ray at the trade deadline and weren't able to reach a deal with Arizona. You have to think he'll be available again, especially since he's close to free agency. Ray would be a nice addition to pair with Jose Berrios, especially since he's left-handed. This makes too much sense not to happen.
