3 Players Who Definitely Won't Be on the Browns Roster Next Season
A 6-8 record through 14 games is not what the Cleveland Browns had in mind before the season began. The losing has led to calls for Freddie Kitchens to be fired and rumors that certain players have stopped giving it their all.
Change is needed in 2020 and three players stand out in particular among those who won't be back in town next season.
3. Damarious Randall
Randall entered the year as a veteran voice in a young secondary. Then he missed the game in Pittsburgh after allegedly sitting out a practice during the week. The Browns lost that game and their playoff chances plummeted. Randall is a free agent in 2020 and the fact he was benched for a key divisional game, regardless of the reason, means he's already halfway out the door.
2. Rashard Higgins
Higgins was a favorite target of Baker Mayfield in 2018. Jump to 2019, and he only has four receptions in nine games. He has been held out and rumors have emerged about Kitchens having an issue with the receiver. Higgins is a draft pick of the former regime and John Dorsey has sent a lot of those players packing already. Higgins could be the next to go.
1. Joe Schobert
Schobert leads the team in both tackles, by a wide margin, and interceptions. He has been one of the more productive players on defense throughout his rookie contract, but he made it clear he hasn't heard anything about a new contract. That's a bad sign, and the fact he hasn't already been given an extension means the front office is ready to move on (or Dorsey and Co. know another team is going to throw a ton of money at him).
