When Bruce Bochy retired from managing the San Francisco Giants, it was reasonably viewed as the end of his career in the dugout. But the veteran skipper and 2,000-game winner seems to have pulled a fast one on everyone by suggesting that he's open to managing again in 2021.

Bochy stated that everything is subject to change, but that he'd "love to have one more shot." If that's the case, then there are plenty of teams that would be willing to bring him in as their manager.

Though Dave Roberts is under contract through 2022, all signs point to him being on the hot seat. The Dodgers have failed to bring home a title in each of the last three postseasons despite entering October with some of the best teams in franchise history. If Roberts has yet another failed playoff run, then he might be jettisoned in favor of the three-time World Series champion Bochy.

2. Chicago Cubs

To say expectations are high for David Ross would be a grotesque understatement. The Cubs have had World Series aspirations ever since they ended their infamous drought in 2016, but they haven't been able to follow through down the stretch. Both the organization and the fans are sick and tired of underachievement, and if he follows in the same footsteps as Joe Maddon, his tenure could be short-lived, especially if Bochy is searching for a job. The Angels just ousted Brad Ausmus after one disappointing season, so who's to say the Cubs wouldn't do the same to Ross?

The team from the South Side is inching ever closer to playing competitive baseball again, and the final push they need to get over that hump might be to hire Bochy after the conclusion of next season. Rick Renteria has done a fine job of piloting them through this extended rebuild, but a changing of managers will most certainly be in order if they want to rank among the game's elite teams once again. And there's no better guy to help them do that than an experienced skipper like Bochy.
