3 Rays Prospects Who Should Be Untouchable in Trade Talks

The Rays pride themselves on developing prospects over the last few years and that work has paid off over the last couple of seasons. Once again in playoff contention, the Rays have been one of the league's biggest surprises, and even if they're active at the deadline, do not expect these top prospects to be shipped away for rentals.

Brujan was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2014 and quickly rose through the ranks when he came to the US in 2016. He is a switch hitter who has a good eye and is capable on both sides. He generates more power from the left side and has good speed and plays a solid second base. Brujan separates himself from the other middle infielders in the Rays system because of his leadoff ability.

2. LHP/DH Brendan McKay

McKay looks to be the Rays version of Shohei Ohtani. The Rays have developed McKay as a two-way player, but he has had more success on the mound. All of McKay’s pitches are excellent and he's a very smart pitcher. His bat still needs work but he knows how to get on base. His first three starts in the big leagues have been successful and he will play a major role in the Rays playoff chase this season, despite getting sent back to the minors.

3. SS Wander Franco

Franco is a switch hitting shortstop and the top prospect in all of baseball. He also has a terrific eye at the plate and solid power. Franco is also a good defender who may have to move to third in the future because of his size, but players like Carlos Correa have shown that may not matter. He's far and away the most intriguing youngster in the sport, and the Rays would be insane to let him go.
