3 Reasons 76ers Fans Who Wanted Joel Embiid Traded Should No Longer Be Allowed to Watch Sports
Some Philadelphia 76ers fans have taken the mind-boggling route of booing Joel Embiid at home. Embiid has become a perennial All-Star and his 76ers are 25-2 at home this season. Some of the boos appear to be in jest to motivate Embiid, but all of this started with true negative intentions.
Certain 76ers fans on social media even floated the idea of trading Embiid and they sure look stupid after he dropped 26 points and 9 rebounds in the team's win over the Clippers on Tuesday night. So here are several clear reasons why any 76ers "fan" who wanted Embiid traded should just stop following sports altogether.
3. Stretch of Team Success
The 76ers have been to the playoffs the last two seasons and are on their way to a third straight trip. The last such stretch of success came nearly two decades ago with Allen Iverson in town. Embiid has been the glue during these playoff runs and the team was one game away from taking down the eventual champion Toronto Raptors in last year's conference semifinals. Trading an All-Star because he struggled in a few games does absolutely nothing positive in this scenario.
2. He Literally is "The Process"
Embiid himself is known as "The Process" because he embodies the long-term plan undertaken by the 76ers. He missed his first two seasons after being drafted and is now the focal point of the franchise. Trading the former No. 3 overall pick would mean the years of commitment to Embiid would be thrown away for no good reason other than impatience, a lack of good coaching, and insufficient talent around him.
1. He's Their Best Player by Far
Embiid leads the 76ers in scoring, rebounds and blocks this season. He is the only player on the team to average over 20 points per game and has never been below that mark in any year since entering the NBA. Jimmy Butler's departure cemented Embiid as the top player in town and that's obvious for any NBA fan to see. The near-constant good comes with the occasional bad, and any "fan" who wants an impactful, dedicated and dominant player like Embiid shipped out of town quite literally has no idea what they're talking about.
