The winter meetings commence this Sunday and the 2018 world champion Boston Red Sox will be looking to be active on the market after a disappointing 2019 campaign.

Here are three players that the Red Sox should absolutely consider off-limits when they are attempting to make trades this winter.

1. Jarren Duran - OF

Duran has been a pleasant surprise for the Boston Red Sox after they drafted him in the seventh round in the 2018. He has a batting average of .303 in the minors and his plus speed makes him an issue for infielders to deal with. With 46 steals in 132 games, he is the kind of player that the Sox should sit on.

2. Tanner Houck - RHP

Houck was an alright starter in the minors for the Red Sox Double-A and Triple-A affiliates, but when he got moved into the bullpen he became significantly better. Whether or not being a starter in the majors is in his future, Houck could be a long term solution to the Red Sox major bullpen issues.

3. Gilberto Jimenez - OF

Jimenez is a 19-year-old from the Dominican Republic with some serious superstar potential. His game is based around his absurd speed and as the rest of his game rounds out make sure to remember his name. In his first ever season in the minors Jimenez had a batting average of .359. An inability to draw walks is an issue, but he can improve in that facet with time as he gets used to the professional game.
