3 September Call-Ups Who Could Help the Indians Overtake the Twins in the AL Central

The Cleveland Indians currently sit four games behind the first place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central, though that's a bit further back than the heights they recently attained.

As the bats stay hot and the rotation builds, there is still plenty of time to make a run. These players can help out the Indians when the rosters expand to 28 in September.

3. Jon Edwards

Edwards is a veteran reliever who has bounced around from team to team through the major and minor leagues. He has always shown an ability to strike out batters, but his control has betrayed him. In eight innings this year, he has struck out five batters and walked six, though he's sported just a 2.25 ERA. Come September, Edwards could be counted on to soak up valuable innings and save established relievers.

2. Phil Maton

Maton was acquired from the San Diego Padres for international money. The 26-year-old had a 7.77 ERA this season and the Indians decided to take a risk on him. In the two years prior, his ERA was 4.28, and he was a reliable arm for the Padres. Since he joined the Indians in Triple-A, his ERA is 3.52, and he could provide some added depth in the Indians bullpen when he is called up.

1. Bobby Bradley

Bradley is a power-hitting top prospect who received some time in the big leagues in 2019, but struggled to reach the .200 mark with his average. The 23-year-old has rocked Triple-A pitching to the tune of 27 homers, a .281 average, and .350 OBP this season, and could be the exact shot in the arm Cleveland needs to replace Jake Bauers' bat this fall. Bradley's strikeout numbers are a cause for concern, however, as he had 20 in 45 big league at-bats. If he can create more contact, he can become an impact player for the Indians.
