3 Sneaky Free Agent Moves Bears Can Still Make Before 2019 Season
By Max Scoli
Though the NFL offseason has been in full swing for months now, a remarkable number of high-profile free agents remain unaccounted for. The Bears should probably get involved with a few of these remaining big names.
1. Sign Michael Crabtree
The Chicago Bears seem to be eternally lacking depth at the receiver position, and with Anthony Miller's status currently in question, that limits the offensive options for Pro Bowl QB Mitchell Trubisky. Enter Michael Crabtree. The former NFC champion still has some gas left in the tank, and would be an excellent addition to the Bears' wide receiver corps.
2. Sign Nick Perry
Perry has struggled with some injuries over the course of his career, but when he takes the field, he is effective. Adding another proven pass rusher only further allows the likes of Khalil Mack and other superstars on Chicago's defense to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks. He is the definition of a high-risk, high-reward free agent (but it sure would feel good swiping another former rival on the cheap, wouldn't it?).
3. Sign Tre Boston
Although the organization managed to sign Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to add some talent to their secondary, this deal is only one-year long, and the Bears would be wise to lock up another quality safety. Boston recorded 79 tackles and three interceptions last year, along with nine deflections, which led the Cardinals defense. The NFL veteran continues to prove his worth on the field, and the Bears shouldn't hesitate to sign him.
