3 Sneaky Free Agent Moves Packers Can Still Make Before 2019 Season
By Michael Luciano
For the first time in what seems like forever, the Green Bay Packers have finally surrounded Aaron Rodgers with some quality pieces. They dominated the draft, establishing a quality young defensive unit centered around Rashan Gary and Darnell Savage. However, Brian Gutekunst shouldn't get complacent. Rather, he should give these three veteran free agents a look.
3. LB Vincent Rey
A former undrafted free agent out of Duke, Rey had started for five seasons in Cincinnati before falling out of favor last campaign. The Packers may appear set at linebacker with Blake Martinez, Kyler Fackrell, and Oren Burks, but another experienced head in the room is never a bad idea.
2. OT Jeremy Parnell
Parnell started at right tackle for the Jaguars last year. While he wasn't great, he was at the very worst an average tackle, and there aren't many of those left on the market anymore. Parnell is the ideal backup lineman, and his services could be perfect for a team leaning on the declining Bryan Bulaga at right tackle.
1. WR Pierre Garcon
Garcon has only played 16 games over the last two seasons, but has shown that he can still get consistent separation short and deep downfield. Rodgers' receiver room at the moment is a bunch of kids and Davante Adams, and a veteran quarterback like Rodgers would love to have another battle-scarred veteran on the roster.
