3 Starters Braves Could Trade for Not Named Marcus Stroman
By Sean Facey
The Braves signed Dallas Keuchel in the hopes that he could salvage their starting rotation, but even with him going strong, they still find themselves in need of some help.
Though they've been linked to Toronto ace Marcus Stroman, their status with him is up for debate, and there's a handful of other guys on the market they could swing a deal for. Here's a look at three starters:
3. Trevor Bauer
Bauer has had a solid season this year for the Indians. He owns a 3.61 ERA and has struck out 149 batters. He's also been an absolute workhorse, tossing a league-leading 132 innings through his first 20 starts. At the very least, he could take pressure off a Braves bullpen that's been spotty at best, while giving the team a strong arm atop the rotation.
2. Matthew Boyd
Boyd has had a breakout year thanks to his absurd spike in command. Atlanta starters own the fourth-highest walk rate in the MLB this season, making him an ideal target. He's only issued 20 free passes in 107 innings. Boyd has also fanned 142 batters, solidifying him as an extremely attractive trade candidate.
1. Madison Bumgarner
Bumgarner checks all the boxes the Braves could hope for. He's a veteran southpaw with postseason experience, and he's played in the NL for his entire career. The former World Series MVP owns a 2.11 career ERA in October. Trading for MadBum would be a home-run acquisition. Could Atlanta end up getting it done?
