3 Starters Yankees Should Trade for Not Named Madison Bumgarner or Max Scherzer

The Yankees are among the top teams searching for starting pitching on this year's trade market. They've been linked to big-name aces like Madison Bumgarner and Max Scherzer, but it's unclear if anything will come of those rumors. Instead, they should keep these three names on their radar as July 31 approaches.

Boyd is one of the top starters available for good reason. He owns a 3.87 ERA, and only two of his 18 starts have been short than five innings. Though he's allowed four earned runs or more in each of his last four outings, there's no reason that the Yankees shouldn't continue to keep tabs on him.

2. Marcus Stroman

Stroman has pieced together an impressive year, posting a 3.18 ERA with a 141 ERA+ in 18 starts. The Toronto Blue Jays ace's actions on social media have also made it seem as though he's receptive to the idea of pitching in pinstripes. There have also been rumors that Toronto is looking to package him with Ken Giles, something that could solidify both the rotation and the bullpen for the Yankees.

1. Noah Syndergaard

It would take a king's ransom of assets to snag Syndergaard from the cross-town rival Mets, but it would be so worth it. Syndergaard's 4.68 ERA might not be that attractive, but his 3.98 FIP suggests he's due for a hot streak, and there's simply no denying that his triple-digit heat would fit in perfectly in the rotation. He's got plenty of upside and plenty of control for the future, and he could be the perfect fit in the Bronx.
