3 Teams Dumb Enough to Trade for Andy Dalton

Andy Dalton was able to reach the playoffs in each of his first five NFL seasons, but he and the Bengals could never advance past the Wild Card round. Cincinnati has won just 21 games since 2016, and has decided to move on from Dalton, with LSU standout Joe Burrow expected to be ushered in as the new face of the franchise. Dalton is still under contract for one more season, so if the Bengals want to offload him it would likely be via trade. The Red Rifle has a plethora of starting experience, and while there may be more attractive options available on the market, these three teams may be willing to roll the dice on Dalton in 2020, so long as his price isn't too high,

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Of the three teams on this list, Andy Dalton would probably put up the best numbers if he joined the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay boasts talented offensive weapons, including Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, which is exactly what Dalton needs to get his career back on track. At the end of the day it doesn't take much to upgrade from Jamies Winston, and Tampa Bay wouldn't have to fork up much to acquire Dalton from the Bengals.

2. Chicago Bears

Bears fans don't want to admit that a trade for Dalton would genuinely help the team, but deep down they know it would remedy their underlying quarterback problems. Bringing in a veteran quarterback like Dalton would provide fuel and competition for Mitchell Trubisky to step up his game, something the entire city of Chicago is eager to see. As much as the Bears liked Chase Daniel, he doesn't cut it as a backup relative to Dalton. The Bears can't really get worse by trading for Dalton, who could provide some much-needed depth under center.

1. New England Patriots

It's honestly too perfect. As soon as Tom Brady ducks out of New England for the first time in his pro career this offseason, head coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots step in to acquire Dalton in what becomes another sneaky trade for a veteran starter. New England has a history for making such pivotal trades, but this one would top the rest. The Patriots still boast what is arguably the NFL's best defense, so they wouldn't need Dalton to be a superstar under center. Whether or not Jarrett Stidham would be ready to take over as a starter if Tom Brady leaves remains to be seen, so why not offload a late-round pick and take a temporary gamble on Dalton?
