3 Teams That Should Trade for Yankees Slugger Miguel Andujar
By Scott Rogust
The New York Yankees are always a busy team in the MLB offseason. With plenty of free agents to look at, general manager Brian Cashman is receiving some trade calls, most notably for third baseman Miguel Andujar.
The 2018 AL Rookie of the Year runner-up had been the apple of the eye for many clubs, but Cashman refused to move his prized prospect. After Andujar suffered a season-ending shoulder injury, Gio Urshela shined in his absence, making the now third-year player that much more expendable.
Here are three teams that should be calling the Yankees for Andujar's services.
3. Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have not had the greatest luck in solidifying the hot corner of the infield. Maikel Franco never really lived up to the hype, and has already been subjected to the trade block by the Phillies. Even though Philadelphia has been looking at Josh Donaldson in free agency, he could come at a hefty price. If they're to lose out on the open market, Miguel Andujar is an intriguing option on the trade market.
2. Texas Rangers
To the surprise of no one, the Texas Rangers are in the hunt for a new star third baseman, as replacing Adrian Beltre proved to be a difficult task. The Rangers have already been linked to top free agents Anthony Rendon and the aforementioned Donaldson. Third base has been a position of need, as the team ranked 26th in the majors in OPS (.699). Andujar can immediately fill that void and be a potential face of the franchise for years to come.
1. Milwaukee Brewers
With Mike Moustakas entering free agency, the Milwaukee Brewers desperately need a third baseman. Of course, Milwaukee's playoff window is open, but the front office has Christian Yelich's contract to worry about, which would limit them in spending cash on the open market. So why not make a deal with the Yankees and get a quality third baseman in Andujar? He'll be under club control for quite a while at an affordable price.
