3 Teams That Should Take a Shot on Signing Dez Bryant After He Announced Plans for NFL Return
By Evan Wolff
Dez Bryant has been on the fence about making a return to the NFL, but it looks as if the wideout has finally made up his mind. Despite previously declaring his intention to return in October, the veteran remained away from the league. Then, Bryant took to Twitter on Wednesday to reveal that he'd be reaching out to teams in a couple weeks.
With Bryant back to speculating that he could be ready for another comeback, let's take a look at three teams that could use his services.
3. Indianapolis Colts
This is definitely an intriguing prospect. Last week, they may not have needed him, as the Colts were rolling and seemingly comfortable with their situation after a victory over the Broncos. However, after a bad loss to the Steelers, injuries to Jacoby Brissett and T.Y. Hilton, with the latter possibly missing up to four weeks, why not take a shot? With the best receiving options in Indy currently Eric Ebron and Zach Pascal, it couldn't hurt to have a former All-Pro help them towards a possible playoff push.
2. Baltimore Ravens
With the Ravens pushing towards a division title and threatening to make a deep playoff run, Baltimore could potentially be interested in a veteran presence to help young QB Lamar Jackson. There would be little pressure to perform, as he would just be a compliment to an effective offense that depends on the running game. But with the most dangerous wide receiver on the Ravens being Marquise Brown, who is a rookie and has been dealing with injury, it may not be the worst idea to bring in the veteran Bryant to add depth come playoff time.
1. New England Patriots
The Patriots added Mohamed Sanu to counter the loss of Josh Gordon, but another boost at wideout could stand to benefit the team. Bryant would need to earn Tom Brady's trust in New England, but what better situation for the veteran to come in and make small contributions than as a weapon for the most feared team in the league? Bryant seems willing to play a small role and earn his targets, and it looks like he's looking for a drama-free return to the game. Perhaps Bill Belichick takes a shot on the 31-year-old.
