3. Devin Bush is Legit
Steelers' first-round pick Devin Bush was in on seemingly every play, even stopping the Bucs on a fourth-and-short in the second quarter. Pittsburgh allowed Bush to call the plays defensively and he showed the kind of leadership and energy the Steelers envisioned when they traded up for him in April.
2. James Washington is Ready to Take the Next Step
James Washington had some hiccups in Year 1 with the Steelers, but he's slowly but surely separating himself from the pack in Pittsburgh's receiving corps. After signing Donte Moncrief, Washington's been challenged to solidify the No. 2 role. Through one game, he's done just that.
1. Mason Rudolph Should Be the Backup, Period.
Mason Rudolph looks miles ahead of Josh Dobbs in the Steelers offense, and while the former Tennessee signal-caller gives Pittsburgh more mobility behind center, he's just not gifted enough as a passer. Rudolph was capable and poised, something he lacked in limited preseason action last season. It's his time.
