3 WRs Who Would Be Perfect Replacements for Amari Cooper if He Leaves Dallas
By Sean Facey
Amari Cooper showed great chemistry with Dak Prescott last year. The two of them were one of the league's top quarterback-receiver duos. But both of them are due big contracts, and it seems like the Dallas Cowboys have opted to throw as much money as possible at their man with the golden arm.
Cooper could still return to the Cowboys if they franchise tag him, but that carries a hefty financial burden for the team. If salary cap flexibility is what the team is really after, then they should pursue these replacements.
3. Sammy Watkins
Watkins seems destined to be cut by the Kansas City Chiefs, but he'd be an ideal option to fill the hole left by Cooper. Standing an inch over six feet, he's the exact same size as Cooper, and he brings with him a history of success that could lead to a bright future between him and Prescott. His 57.8% career catch rate is only a hair below Cooper's, and if he can regain the form that saw him log a 1,000-yard season in Buffalo in 2015, then it'll be like Cooper never left.
2. Emmanuel Sanders
If there was one guy who could help the Dallas Cowboys' offense continue to perform consistently, it would be Sanders. He brings a decade of experience to the table and has two Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl win to his name. He topped the 800-yard mark for the fifth time in six years last year, and considering his knowledge of the league and his ability to show up when it matters most, Sanders could be the perfect player to show this team what it needs to finally make it back to the big game.
1. Denzel Mims
Mims is everything the Cowboys could ever ask for out of a wide receiver draft prospect. Not only is he a local guy who attended Baylor, but he also performed admirably at the NFL Combine. He flashed speed and agility, and his 28 touchdown catches during his time with the Bears prove that his 6-foot-3-inch frame is the perfect fit to help give the Cowboys the young replacement they need to fill Cooper's shoes.
