4 NBA Teams That Should Call the Pacers About a Domantas Sabonis Trade
Despite the NBA season opener still being a few days away, there's already speculation that certain players are possibly on the move. And it looks like Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis is one of those guys after he and Indiana couldn't come to an agreement on an extension. So here are four teams that could really use him.
1. Houston Rockets
PJ Tucker is easily one of the best defenders in the league and provides toughness that can't be replaced. But he isn't exactly somebody who can get buckets, nor does Houston have a backup PF that can really score. Sabonis would be a great bench option for this squad as the former Sixth Man of the Year candidate could provide much-needed depth.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves
Unless Minnesota wants to start Noah Vonleh for the whole season, they should really look at trying to acquire Sabonis. Karl Anthony Towns could use some help in the frontcourt, and the team could use this as a way to rid itself of one of the five shooting guards on the roster. Sabonis could be a nice addition in Minnesota.
3. San Antonio Spurs
This is another team with too many shooting guards on the roster. But more importantly, Sabonis would be a perfect fit in Gregg Popovich's system with his old-school style of play. A big men duo of Sabonis and LaMarcus Aldridge would be just what San Antonio needs to secure a playoff spot this season.
4. Los Angeles Lakers
Hear us out, Lakers fans. We all know Kyle Kuzma is a nice scorer, but Sabonis scores just as well while also providing much better rebounding and defending. Also, Kuzma is coming off a stress fracture on his foot and it's not clear when he'll return. Perhaps Sabonis could head to LA to provide some additional depth for a Lakers team looking to win it all this year.
