As it turns out, winning MVP at the Elite 11 can do wonders for the recruiting process. CJ Stroud's options were fairly limited entering his senior year of high school, but after showing out at Elite 11 and continuing his dominance in the Calif. ranks, several Power-5 champions came calling, including Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.

Stroud cited his connection to Day as his reasoning for picking the Buckeyes in a fairly wide open race on the first day of the Early Signing Period.

Despite the likes of Michigan, Oregon and Georgia all vying for his services, Ohio State stood out for Stroud, in part due to how Day and the Buckeyes have developed quarterbacks in recent years. Dwayne Haskins was a first-round pick, and Justin Fields could be on his way to a similar fate.

Stroud won't get much playing time right away, especially with Fields set to return to Columbus next season. However, his path to college football stardom is clear, and Ohio State's dominance in recruiting continues.
