4 Teams Colin Kaepernick Would Already Be a Major Upgrade for at QB

Colin Kaepernick used to be one of the premier quarterbacks in the NFL, leading the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2013. He threw 72 touchdowns against only 30 interceptions during his time as a starter before he was blackballed out of the league for his protest against racial inequality. However, after reports emerged about a private workout for Kaepernick with all 32 NFL teams receiving an invite, he might finally get to play in the league again. With that being said, here are four teams Kaepernick would instantly be a major upgrade for under center.

4. Washington Redskins

The Redskins just committed to starting Dwayne Haskins for the rest of the season, which means they're facing a reality where they go 1-15. That's not something Redskins fans should stand for--why throw your rookie quarterback into the flames, instead of giving him time to develop a la Patrick Mahomes? Bringing Kaepernick in would instantly elevate the Redskins' offense while allowing Haskins to grow behind a proven quarterback.

3. Detroit Lions

Matthew Stafford has broken bones in his back as well as a left hip injury. If he tries to come back sooner than he's able to, his body may become broken beyond repair, and as much as Lions fans love Stafford, his health comes first. That's why Kaepernick could replace Jeff Driskel as the current starting quarterback and make the most out of weapons such as Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones Jr. and Danny Amendola. Driskel's 1-5 as a starter; it doesn't get much worse than that, especially when Kaepernick would keep the Lions competitive for a playoff spot.

2. Denver Broncos

In actuality, it might be difficult to convince John Elway to take a chance on Kaepernick, especially when Elway famously stated that Kap had already apparently passed on the opportunity to play for the Broncos. However, second chances are a thing in the NFL, and the Broncos desperately need to rejuvenate their offense after losing Joe Flacco for the year and being forced to start Brandon Allen.

1. Chicago Bears

Mitchell Trubisky continues to play himself out of a starting job for the Bears, just one year removed from a solid season during which he led the Bears to a postseason appearance. If Kaepernick could return to even 75% of the player he was three years ago, he'd undoubtedly be a massive upgrade over anything Trubisky's had to offer this year. And it wouldn't take much convincing for Bears fans to watch the former No. 2 overall pick get relegated to clipboard duty.
