4 Teams Reportedly Scouting Madison Bumgarner's Final Start Before Trade Deadline
By Jerry Trotta
This is it, folks. Either Madison Bumgarner is making his final start in a San Francisco Giants uniform, or the lauded left-hander is not getting moved ahead of the July 31 trade deadline.
The former World Series MVP is on the bump Sunday afternoon for the Giants against the Padres and a plethora of contending clubs are reportedly scouting his final outing before the deadline.
Per MLB writer Scott Miller, the Phillies, Braves, Cubs, and Yankees, among others, all have scouts in attendance today at Petco Park.
If you support any of the aforementioned organizations we wouldn't read too much into this news. For starters, it's simply protocol to do your homework on a potential acquisition. And more importantly, the Giants are reportedly lining up to be buyers as they strive to compete for the NL Wild Card.
MadBum has the Yanks, Braves, Phils, and Cubs all on his no-trade list and might not even be willing to waive the clause to join a World Series-aspirational squad. He's been floated in trade rumors all year, and with time running out until the deadline, it still remains unclear if Bumgarner will be shipped out of San Francisco.
His heart simply lies in the Bay Area. And why wouldn't it? He's hoisted the Commissioner's Trophy three separate times with the club.
Nothing is officially set in stone just yet, however. The Giants could absolutely have a change of heart. Though, we'd love to see them give Bruce Bochy one last run to achieve baseball glory.
Stay tuned for updates on any potential progress in trade talks involving San Fran's superstar.
