49ers Acquire Veteran WR Emmanuel Sanders in Trade With Broncos
By Karl Rasmussen
The Denver Broncos were expected to be sellers at the trade deadline, and they've officially parted ways with one of their veteran players.
According to Mike Klis, the Broncos have dealt veteran wideout Emmanuel Sanders to the San Francisco 49ers.
The deal sees Sanders and a fifth-round pick head West while the Broncos will recoup a third and fourth rounder.
The Sanders deal comes on the heels of the Patriots making a move to bring in a veteran wideout of their own, having just dealt a second rounder in order to acquire Mohamed Sanu from the Atlanta Falcons.
The value on that deal makes this look like a bargain for the Broncos, meanwhile the 49ers were able to acquire the wide receiver the offense desperately needed.
Sanders made an incredible recovery after tearing his Achilles last season, and was remarkably ready to go for the season opener. In 2019, the 32-year-old has logged 30 receptions for 367 yards and a pair of touchdowns, hauling in 68.2% of his targets.
He will hope to swiftly develop a rapport with Jimmy Garoppolo and the undefeated 49ers, with whom he'll vie to return to the Super Bowl.
