49ers and Robbie Gould Reportedly Agree to Extension as Deadline Approaches
By Mark Powell

After essentially trying to force his way out of San Francisco over commitment issues, the 49ers and Robbie Gould have mended fences at the deadline for franchise tagged players to receive contract extensions.
Gould had been connected to the Chicago Bears' open kicking competition, as they've struggled to replace Cody Parkey after the incumbent missed a 43-yard field goal to lose a critical playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles last season.
For now, Chicago will have to look elsewhere, and Gould received the deal he so desired--with a surprising amount of guaranteed money to boot.
Beating Monday deadline for franchised players to sign long-term extensions, the 49ers and Robbie Gould reached agreement on a 2-year, $10.5 million fully-guaranteed deal that, including an option clause, can turn into a 4-year, $19M deal that includes $15M gtd, sources tell ESPN

Gould has been a model of consistency in San Francisco, hitting 39-of-41 attempts in 2019. As he ages, Gould has actually improved his craft, as 2019 offered the highest make rate of his career, despite being on a rather dismal 49ers squad which lost QB Jimmy Garoppolo for the season very early in the year.
With the aforementioned deadline rapidly approaching, Gould was one of several players in search of obtaining a long-term contract, rather than playing on the lucrative, yet indecisive franchise tag.
With today being last day franchise players can sign long-term deals this year, here’s what sources say:

*Houston LB Jadeveon Clowney will not get a deal done.
*Atlanta and DT Grady Jarrett are unlikely to reach an agreement.
*49ers and K Robbie Gould have agreement in place.
The 49ers kicking situation is locked up for years to come, and assuming Gould doesn't fall off dramatically, this deal is a win-win for both sides.
