49ers DT DeForest Buckner Basically Guaranteed a Win Over the Seahawks
The San Francisco 49ers are riding high after Saturday night's victory that has the team atop the NFC before Sunday's games begin. The win sets up a huge NFC West showdown in Week 17 between the 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks. The winner is set for a first-round bye and a division title. The loser has to open the postseason on the road as a Wild Card team.
49ers defensive end DeForest Buckner was feeling the good vibrations Saturday night and basically said his team is going to win next Sunday.
That is not a full guarantee, but it is about as close as one can get.
The Seahawks using this as bulletin board material will have to wait until next week begins. Seattle also has to take care of business Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals before focusing on the 49ers.
The first meeting between the two teams saw the Seahawks come out victorious in overtime. The 49ers had a chance to win the game on a field goal, so Buckner has a right to be positive about his team's chances this time around.
Buckner has the right mindset because winning in Seattle is so difficult. His confidence can spread to the rest of his team as they fight to avoid dropping back down into the Wild Card position. Yet if the Seahawks win there may be some talk about how this simple statement inspired them even more than before.
