The 49ers defensive line is losing some depth after it was announced that defensive tackle DJ Jones suffered a "significant" ankle injury.
On Friday, Kyle Shanahan revealed that the defensive tackle had been placed on IR, putting an end to his 2019 campaign.

Jones started 11 games for the 49ers this season, logging 23 tackles, two sacks and forcing a fumble. The former Ole Miss standout was selected in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft and has spent his whole career in San Francisco.
The Niners activated DT Kentavius Street to replace Jones' spot on the 53-man roster. Street was a fourth-round pick in 2018 but has yet to feature in an NFL game. He was elevated from the practice squad in order to join the 49ers' roster.
#49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said on @KNBR that NT D.J. Jones is going on season-ending injured reserve. Jones’ injury is a significant high-ankle sprain that will keep him sidelined for a while. Kentavius Street is likely to fill his spot on the 53-man roster.

Jones suffered the injury in the high-scoring matchup against the Saints in Week 14 and the Niners will be forced to carry on without him for the remainder of the year.
