49ers Should Be Concerned Jimmy Garoppolo Was a Giant Waste of Money

When the San Francisco 49ers first signed Jimmy Garoppolo to his massive new contract, many out there were left stunned. Is he really worth this much? Have the 49ers made a massive mistake?
Flashing forward to the present, there's no arguing Jimmy G simply hasn't been worth the five-year, $137.5 million contract the team signed him to back in February of 2018. This much was once again showcased following his terrible performance in San Francisco's preseason contest against the Broncos.

Oh, man, that just doesn't look good. Coming off a torn ACL last year, those in the Bay Area have been hopeful Garoppolo would be able to come out and prove his worth this season.
However, in practice and now in live action, he's been nothing but a turnover machine. He really looks nothing like a franchise quarterback. We got a small sample size of his potential when he was with the New England Patriots, but he has done nothing but disappoint since landing in the NFC West.
Here's the 2nd terrible pass from Jimmy Garoppolo in the game. He threw a pick on the first drive and had a defender drop this one that was thrown right to him.

Was going to be a pick-six.pic.twitter.com/jljn58yi9G
You'd like to see the young man turn things around, but something simply is not clicking for him right now. He needs to step his game up and fast, otherwise we could be looking at another wasted season for the Niners.
