49ers Sign LT Joe Staley to Two-Year Contract Extension

A longtime San Francisco 49er is staying put.
The 49ers announced they have signed left tackle Joe Staley to a two-year contract extension during the team's state-of-the-franchise event on Wednesday. No financial details have been revealed as of this writing.

The offensive tackle was set to hit free agency at the end of the upcoming season, but will now remain under contract with the team until he turns 37-years-old.
Staley has been with the organization since 2007, when the team selected him in the first round out of Central Michigan. Originally a right tackle during his rookie season, Staley moved over to the left side of the offensive line, where he's made a name for himself throughout his career.

Through his 12 seasons with the 49ers, Staley has made six Pro Bowls and received three Second-Team All-Pro honors. More importantly, Staley has played in 174 games, all of which were starts.
Joe Staley has made life easier for the various quarterbacks of the San Francisco 49ers by protecting their blindside. Now, he'll be with the team up until the conclusion of the 2021 season.
